Committees
All of the work for events, fundraisers, activities and classroom fun is completed at the committee level. The NES PTAC has almost thirty committees to meet the interest of almost every parent. It takes a veritable army of volunteers to complete the work of the PTAC, and we are so fortunate to have an incredible group of dedicated parents who chair committees and volunteer their time to make NES exceptional.
If you are interested in volunteering on one (or more) of the committees, please complete our online volunteer sign-up form.

Below is a listing of all of the committees that make up the PTAC.
OUTDOOR MOVIE
Back to School Movie Night is a fun way for families to get together at the start of the school year. A few volunteers are needed to get the show on the road.
BOOK FAIR
Book Fair is one of the most popular events each year. The two books fairs are usually scheduled in October and again in April. The schedule is very flexible. Volunteers are needed to help organize and/or cashier in 2-hour time slots.
DINING FOR DOLLAR$
Dining for Dollar$ is Niwot Elementary's monthly restaurant fundraiser. The events are coordinated with local restaurants, which donate a percentage of sales to the PTAC. All the community has to do is eat at participating restaurants on the designated dates (usually the night before late start).
LEADERSHIP ST. VRAIN
Leadership St. Vrain volunteers are liaisons between our school and the district. You are asked to attend district meetings each month and report relevant information at the NES PTAC meetings.
EARTH DAY
Earth Week in April is all about raising children's and parents' awareness of the planet.
COUGAR CAMPAIGN
This is our annual Buy-Nothing/Sell-Nothing fall fundraiser and the Cougar Campaign committee is always looking for people to help get the donations rolling in! This direct-ask campaign eliminates having to enroll in multiple various fundraisers throughout the year. 100% of the donations goes directly to our school and our children are NOT asked to participate in door-to-door sales.
GROCERY CARDS
Our Corporate Cash Committee continues to look for ways to earn money for our school throughout the year. Thousands of dollars come in each year from these efforts! Some of the programs currently include King Soopers Community Rewards.
HOSPITALITY
The Hospitality Committee provides food and refreshments for long parent-teacher conference nights to show appreciation for teachers and staff of Niwot Elementary. The committee also hosts a beginning and end of the year staff lunch. If you love to cook or entertain, and could provide a dish for different-themed meals throughout the year, please join this delicious committee!
LEADERSHIP
Being on the PTAC Executive Board is a great way to get to know your school, your principal and other parents, and to help make decisions that support our staff.
NES SCHOOL DIRECTORY
The PTAC publishes and distributes a free directory for NES families every year. Volunteers manage the database, coordinate with community sponsors and get the directory printed and distributed. Most of the work is done during August and September.
OPEN HOUSE
Just a few days before school begins, we host the Open House where kids and parents can tour the school, meet teachers and shop the various in-school and after school programs available throughout the year. It is also an opportunity for new families to gain a great first impression of our school community. Volunteers begin planning the event in May.
ROOM PARENT COORDINATOR
The Room Parent Coordinator helps ensures that all classrooms have room parents. The Coordinator also supports room parents by ensuring that Room Parent Guidelines are updated and implemented. The Coordinator acts as a liaison between the PTAC & room parents.
SCIENCE GARDEN
The Science Garden is funded entirely by the NES PTAC with the intent of providing students and staff both an outdoor classroom and the opportunity to participate in programs on topics relating to natural sciences, gardening and outdoor education. All maintenance and programming is done by volunteers. NO EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED TO VOLUNTEER. We need one or more parent coordinators per classroom (K-5). These coordinators will schedule two 45-60 minute science programs per year for the students of their class (fall and spring). Also, MANY volunteers are needed throughout the year (including summer) to assist with garden maintenance projects such as planting, weeding, pruning, mulching, etc. 1 - 2 hours PER YEAR can make a dramatic difference.
SILENT AUCTION
Our Silent Auction is generally held during the Sock Hop, giving parents a chance to “shop” for themed baskets of goodies, gift certificates to local retailers, and priceless teacher and principal experiences while also raising funds for NES. Volunteers help gather donations from local businesses, set up baskets and tables, and process payments at the end of the night.
COUGAR CARNIVAL
An end of school year event to play and celebrate! Please sign up to help provide a day of fun to our NES community. Volunteer positions include ticket and food sales, running games and booths, and setup/cleanup. The Cougar Carnival is scheduled at the end of the year in May.
SPIRIT WEAR
"Cougar Wear" is available for sale throughout the year, and the proceeds benefit the school PTAC and Student Council. The committee sets up a table in the lobby and sells hoodies, tees, football jerseys, car magnets and stickers every month.
TALENT SHOW
The NES Talent Show is a fun and popular annual event. The event is held in the Niwot High School auditorium and it's quite a production. There are many volunteer responsibilities available, from small to large time commitments.
TEACHER APPRECIATION
Teacher Appreciation happens throughout the year with each grade level providing lunches for all NES staff. The tasks include collecting teacher wish lists, and coordinating room parent appreciation efforts.
TROT
The Niwot Trot is a 5K run/walk held in the Niwot community in late September. There are lots of volunteer opportunities. Please consider helping with this
high-energy event.
WATCH D.O.G.S.
The WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each year at Niwot Elementary. WatchDOG dads and volunteers perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day.
YEARBOOK
The Niwot Elementary Yearbook has successfully featured a photo of each and every child every year. This keepsake is a fun and beautiful way to preserve childhood memories. There are so many ways to help this committee.
